Conference Night

Parents/Guardians:

I sent home a form today in your child's homework folder asking you to indicate at least three different times that will work for you to come in for conference night, March 6th. If you did not receive a form, this may be because we have already discussed your child's needs/progress in the past three weeks. If you did not receive a form, and feel that you need one, please let me know. 

February Week 4

What we will be learning this week: 

Letter sounds: ir

Word Family: -op

Sight words: go an 

Skills: Reviewing sight words

Reading: Reviewing Plot in narrative text (characters, setting, sequence of events, main idea)

Writing: Personification

Math: Counting to 100 cont. Starting the unit of identifying 3D shapes. 

Science: Gravity 

Social Studies: Black History Month 

February Week 3

What we are learning this week:

Word sounds: -er

Word families: og

Sight words: not, all

Skills: Short vowel sounds

Writing: Writing biographies and adding adjectives(describing words) in our writing.

Math: Counting to 100.

Science: Key vocabulary: day/night, close, faraway, nearby

Social Studies: Presidents

February Week 2

What we are learning this week: 

Word sounds: -ar

Word families: -ug, -ub

Sight words: then, had

Skills: manipulating sounds in words

Writing: We will be writing using similes.

Math: Representing numbers 11-20 cont. (math test this Thursday) We will be working on a new unit Friday; we will be focusing on counting to 100.

Science: Key vocabulary: Faraway, close, big, small, pattern, size.

Social Studies: Valentine's Day.

Valentine's Day is this Friday! We will be passing out valentines cards/treats this Friday afternoon!

REPORT CARDS: 

Report cards went home today! Please review your child's report card, sign the envelope, and return the envelope to school. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions/concerns.

Skills: Learning to "chunk" unknown words.  

Word Family: -ag

Reading: "Identify the reasons an author gives to support points in a text, with support". (RI.K.8)....(give support when identifying the author's opinion). 

Writing: Writing with dialogue.

Math: Represent, count and write numbers 11-20 (cont. from last week). 

Science: We will be focusing on Day/Night, Morning, Noon, Evening patterns. 

Social Studies: Introducing cardinal directions N,S,E,W.

This Monday February 3rd, is the 100th day of school! This is something to celebrate! We have been in school for 100 days already!!!!!
